Storm Victorious Over Malone On A Golden Goal, 1-0

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was victorious against Malone University today (September 28th), 1-0.  With the victory the Storm is now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference, and the Pioneers fall to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The first half was a scoreless battle; both teams had multiple attempts on goal but were unsuccessful in converting them.  Lake Erie College outshot Malone 8-7 in the first half. 

In the second half neither team was successful in breaking the tie, but Lake Erie outshot Malone 16-11 at the end of regulation. 

Overtime was ended when freshman midfielder Kalah Saunders (Cleveland Heights, Ohio / Cleveland Heights) found junior midfielder Marlena Lesniowski (London, Ontario / Catholic Central High) waiting at the top of the box for the golden goal giving the Storm the 1-0 win.   

Elizabeth Awuah (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington Central) was in goal for the Storm, she faced 11 shots, five of which were on goal, made five saves and allowed zero goals. 

Lake Erie College will be back in action Friday (October 3rd) when they travel to Michigan to take on Northwood at 2 P.M.
