FINDLAY, OHIO – Sophomore Kyle O'Dell (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) picked up a win at third singles, but that was the only individual match the Lake Erie College men's tennis team took from the University of Findlay in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest on Tuesday (March 20).
O'Dell defeated David Brooks in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 for his first win in five matches this season. Sophomore Stewart Bath (Billingham, England/Billingham Campus School/Averett) took a set from Chris Miller at sixth singles before falling in a third-set tiebreaker 3-6, 6-1, 10-6.
The host Oilers (6-2, 1-0 GLIAC) won the other four singles matches in straight sets and took all three doubles matches in convincing fashion.
Lake Erie (0-5, 0-3 GLIAC) was playing its first match since March 3. The Storm returns home this weekend for a pair of matches, starting Friday (March 23) against Ohio Dominican University at 3 p.m. at the Mentor Heisley Racquet Club.
