PAINESVILLE, OHIO – In a match-up of teams gunning for their first conference victory, the Lake Erie College men's tennis team took the day's first match, but visiting Tiffin University won the next eight contests for an 8-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) win on Tuesday (April 5) at the Mentor Heisley Racquet Club in Mentor.
The first doubles team of freshman Kyle O'Dell (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) and sophomore Austin Opfer (Sandusky, Ohio/St. Mary Central Catholic) picked up an 8-5 win at first doubles over Robbie Ball and Brian Coffman, improving their record to 2-7 on the year.
But after that it was all Tiffin (7-12, 1-9 GLIAC) as the Dragons won the other two doubles matches and all six singles matches in straight sets.
The Storm (1-9, 0-7 GLIAC) is on the road next weekend, starting on Friday, April 8, at Lake Superior State University.
