Gannon University (7-1) earned its seventh straight victory on
Saturday in a 6-0 triumph over Lake Erie College (0-8).
The game was scoreless for the first 30 minutes until Gannon's
Evan Chate found the net from 20 yards out. It appeared the
score would stay that way at the break but Austin Miller scored
with 22 seconds remaining in the first half to give the Golden
Knights a 2-0 advantage at the break.
The Storm came got off to a sluggish start to the second half as
the Golden Knights scored in the 50th and
52nd minutes. Miller and Sean Pike added scores
late for the 6-0 final. None of the six Gannon goals were
assisted.
In goal for Lake Erie, sophomore Ricky
Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) made five
saves.
Gannon won the battle of shots, 24-5, and corner kick,
11-2.
The Storm are in action at home next on Friday, Oct. 1 when they
host Saginaw Valley State at 7:00 p.m. at Jack Britt Memorial
Stadium.
