Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College volleyball team
opened its three-match Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (GLIAC) weekend road trip with a 3-0 loss at Grand
Valley State University Friday night (Oct. 8) in Allendale,
Mich.
The Storm (3-13, 0-9 GLIAC) was coming off an eight-day layoff,
having not played since Sept. 30. The Lakers (11-5, 10-2),
meanwhile, won their fifth straight match by a 3-0 score.
Lake Erie trailed the opening set just 10-8 but Grand Valley
closed out the frame with a 15-4 spurt to win 25-12. The Lakers won
the next two sets in similar fashion, 25-11 and 25-9.
Freshman Molly Richardson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) and
sophomore Nicole Kunar (Northfield Center, Ohio/Northfield) had
three kills each to lead the Storm.
Grand Valley, which outhit the Storm .392 to minus-.122. Nicole
Whiddon had a match-high seven kills for the Lakers.
The Storms road trip continues Saturday at Ferris State.
