Lake Erie College (1-10-1) got one of the best performances from
a goalie in team history as sophomore Rick Carreira (Toronto,
Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) faced 33 shots and made 18 saves in a
scoreless tie against Seton Hill University (2-5-3) in Greensburg,
Pa.
The Storm was outshot 33-9 in the game and the Griffins had a
14-2 advantage in corner kicks but Carreira's efforts
neutralized the difference.
Seton Hill dominated possession in the first half and had 13
shot attempts while Lake Erie did not have an attempt. The
Storm settled in on the road in the second half and the Griffins
held a 10-8 shot advantage. Seton Hill against peppered the Lake
Erie endline with 10 shots between the two 10-minute overtime
periods but time and time again they were denied.
The Storm are in action next on Sunday when they face Ashland
University in a GLIAC road match. The Eagles won the first
matchup between the teams this season, 2-0, in Painesville.
