Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Playing at home for the first time in
nearly three weeks, the Lake Erie College volleyball team wasn't
able to slow down red hot Edinboro University as the Fighting Scots
won their 12th straight with a 3-0 straight set decision Wendesday
night (Oct. 20) at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and
Wellness Center.
The Scots (21-3) broke open a close game in the first set by
scoring the final six points to take the game 25-14. The
Scots then won sets two and three by 25-13 and 25-12 counts,
respectively.
Freshmen Molly Richardson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) and
Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) had four kills each to lead
Lake Erie (3-19).
Beyaca Martin and Gina Boothe had 12 kills each to lead
Edinboro.
The Storm continues its three-match homestand this weekend when
it resumes Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
competition. Lake Erie hosts Lake Superior State University
Friday (Oct. 22) and Northwood University Saturday (Oct. 23). Both
games are part of the Pink Wave/Dig Pink initiative to promote
breast cancer awareness. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to
the matches.
