Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Freshman Molly
Richardson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) and sophomore Michelle
Naab (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) each had 11 kills
and Richardson had 15 digs defensively but it wasn't enough as the
Lake Erie College volleyball team fell in four sets, 3-1, to
Kentucky Wesleyan College to open the second day of the Mizuno
GLIAC/GLVC Crossover on Saturday (Oct. 16) in Aurora, Ill.
The 15 digs for Richardson were a season-high and the 11 kills
tie her best to this point. She has 22 digs and 21
kills in two matches so far at the Crossover. Naabs 11
kills tie her career high.
The Storm (3-17) trailed just 7-6 earlin the first set, but
the Panthers scored the next seven points to create some
breathing room. After Lake Erie cut the lead to three at
11-13, Kentucky Wesleyan went on a 8-2 run and went on to take
the set 25-20.
Lake Erie trailed for most of set two and were down 24-22
but scored five of the next six points to win the frame 27-25,
closing it out on a Richardson kill. Kentucky Wesleyan picked
up a 25-17 win in set three and led by as many as six points
in the fourth set before closing out the match with the 25-21
decision.
Emily Harpenau led the Panthers (6-11) with a match-high
17 kills.
The Storm plays St. Joseph's College (Ind.) later this
afteroon.
