Rough 'Knight' for the Storm

Box Score

ERIE, PA. - Coming off a 3-1 weekend, the Lake Erie College volleyball team could not keep that momentum going as it fell at Gannon University in straight sets tonight (Sept. 8) at the Hammermill Center in Erie.

The Storm (6-4) managed just 22 kills on offense in falling 3-0 (16-25, 19-25, 23-25). Gannon (5-2), meanwhile, recorded 40 kills and 13 service aces, getting double digit kills from Courtney Cook (13) and Morgan Reineke (11).

The Golden Knights led wire-to-wire in the opening set and erased an early three-point Lake Erie lead in the second. The third set was much closer, with the two teams tied at 23-23 before the Knights took the match with a pair of points by Cook.

Lake Erie had four players record three kills each. Sophomore setter Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) had 10 assists and six digs to lead the Storm.

On Wednesday (Sept. 9), Lake Erie hosts Malone University in the home opener at Athletic Center Arena at 7 p.m.
