Box Score ERIE, PA. - Coming off a 3-1 weekend, the Lake Erie College
volleyball team could not keep that momentum going as it fell at
Gannon University in straight sets tonight (Sept. 8) at the
Hammermill Center in Erie.
The Storm (6-4) managed just 22 kills on offense in falling 3-0
(16-25, 19-25, 23-25). Gannon (5-2), meanwhile, recorded 40
kills and 13 service aces, getting double digit kills from Courtney
Cook (13) and Morgan Reineke (11).
The Golden Knights led wire-to-wire in the opening set and
erased an early three-point Lake Erie lead in the second. The
third set was much closer, with the two teams tied at 23-23 before
the Knights took the match with a pair of points by Cook.
Lake Erie had four players record three kills
each. Sophomore setter Krista O'Connor (North Royalton,
Ohio/North Royalton) had 10 assists and six digs to lead the
Storm.
On Wednesday (Sept. 9), Lake Erie hosts Malone University in the
home opener at Athletic Center Arena at 7 p.m.
