Storm Digs Early Hole Against Oilers, Falls in Three Sets at Findlay

PAINESVILLE, OHIO - The University of Findlay jumped out to an early lead and went on to defeat the Lake Erie College volleyball team in straight sets, 3-0, tonight (Sept. 29) at Croy Gymnasium in Findlay.

The Oilers (4-11) easily won the first set 25-13 and then took sets two and three by identical 25-21 scores.

Despite the loss, sophomores Michelle Naab (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and Kayleigh Collins (Saline, Mich./Saline) and freshman Nicole Kunar (Northfield Center, Ohio/Nordonia) each had six kills for the Storm (6-13). Sophomore setter Lauren Bogatay (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) had 12 assists.

Findlay was led by Erin Thomasson's 11 kills and Megan Florence's 19 assists.

This weekend, Lake Erie will host Urbana University on Friday night, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. and then welcome Wilmington College and Davis & Elkins College for a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning at 1 p.m.
