PAINESVILLE, OHIO - The Lake Erie College volleyball team won
the first two sets only to have Tiffin University battle back to
take three sets and the match on Tuesday night (Sept. 23)at the
Gillmor Center in Tiffin.
The Storm (6-11) took a 2-0 lead with 25-23 and 26-24 wins in
the first two sets. The Dragons (2-12) took set three 27-25,
dominated set four 25-14 and then closed out the match 15-13.
Despite the loss, sophomore Bridget Beury (Amherst,
Ohio/Amherst) posted career highs in both kills (13) and digs
(14) and senior Erica Munia (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) also posted
double figures in both categories with 11 kills and 12 digs.
Sophomores Michelle Naab (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton)
and Jennifer Laureno (Lyndhurst, Ohio/Brush) and freshman Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) each had eight
kills as the Storm posted a season-high 62 kills.
Freshman defensive specialist Paige Baldauf (Marion, Ohio/Marion
Pleasant) led the defense with 23 digs while sophomore Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) recorded a
career-high 42 assists.
Tiffin was led by Brooke Bernabei and Brittany Teaford with 23
and 22 kills, respectively. Jessica Adams had 57 assists and
Amanda Marquadt had 33 digs.
The Storm returns to the court this weekend when it travels to
Fairmont State University on Saturday, Sept. 26.
