PAINESVILLE, OHIO - For the second straight weekend, freshman hitter Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) earned a spot on the all-tournament team, this time at the Hampton Inn-Invitational hosted by Point Park University at the Greentree Sportsplex outside of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Walter earned the nod despite an 0-3 weekend for the Lake Erie College volleyball team.  The Storm lost on Friday (Sept. 11) night to host Point Park 3-0 (21-25, 25-25, 22-25) and then dropped a pair of matches Saturday (Sept. 12) to Fairmont State (3-0, 20-25, 23-25, 21-25) and Davis & Elkins (3-2, 25-19, 26-24, 19-25, 18-25, 9-15). 

Individually, Walter recorded 10 kills and 14 digs in the three matches.  Her highs for the weekend came Friday against Point Park when she recorded five kills and seven digs in the close loss.

Freshman Nicole Kunar (Northfield Center, Nordonia) and sophomore Jennifer Laureno (Lyndhurst, Ohio/Brush) led the offensive attack over the weekend with 18 and 17 kills, respectively.  Sophomore setter Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) had 45 assists and 43 digs in the three matches while sophomore defensive specialist Brittany Raggets (Eastlake, Ohio/Villa Angela St. Joseph) posted a team-high 68 digs,  including 37 against Davis & Elkins.

The Storm (6-8) will look to snap its five-match losing streak Tuesday night, Sept. 15, at home against Clarion.  Match time is 7 p.m. at the Athletic Center Arena.
