Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie Storm women's soccer team
could not recover from three early goals by Davis and Elkins
College on Sunday (Sept. 13), falling 5-0 to the Senators.
The Senators struck less than four minutes into the game and
never looked back as Megan Beal deposited a hat trick to round out
the first half with the Senators ahead 4-0.
Davis and Elkins tallied 26 shots in the game, and the Storm,
playing its third game in five days were not able to keep up.
Exhaustion and injury forced several Storm players from the game,
forcing Lake Erie to play three players down as head coach Jim
Buchan tried to manage his already short roster.
The Storm unit continued to fight through the sunny afternoon
until another injury forced Buchan to call off the rest of the game
with 19 minutes to play.
Goalkeepers Jaimie Nelson (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas) and
Chelsea Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) stopped five shots
each for the Storm, which hosts the University of Charleston (W.
Va.) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 16) at Slattery Field.
