Storm Falls in Opener at Clarion, 1-0

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Clarion University tonight (Aug. 31) in its 2009 season opener.

The match was scoreless until the 87th minute when Lindsay Thill scored for Clarion (3-0).  It was the only blemish allowed by senior goalkeeper Chelsea Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) who made five saves on the night.
 
Freshman Kaitlyn Holland (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) led the Storm on offense with two shots.  Clarion held an 11-4 edge in shots and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Jenna Kulik made three saves in recording the shutout.

The Storm returns to action on Friday, Sept. 4, at Point Park.
