Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Behind a balanced attack-
and a huge second set- the Lake Erie College volleyball team ran
its season-opening winning streak to three matches with a straight
sets (3-0) victory over Saint Augustine's College on the second day
(Aug. 29) of the Crimson Hawk/Hampton Inn Invitational at Indiana
University of Pennsylvania.
Sophomore hitter Kayleigh Collins (Saline, Mich./Saline) led the
way on offense with seven kills. Freshmen Nicole Kunar (Northfield
Center, Ohio/Nordonia) and Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame
Cathedral Latin) had five kills apiece and three other players
contributed with three kills each.
The Storm (3-0) broke open a one-point game in the first set and
went on to win 25-22 before dominating the second set from the
get-go. Lake Erie jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never was
threatened en route to a 25-13 victory and closed out the match
with a 25-20 third set.
Sixteen players saw action for the Storm. Shakira Carter
led St. Augustine's (0-3) with nine kills while Wandalee Harris had
12 digs.
The Storm will return to the court this afternoon against host
IUP.
