Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Tiffin Dragons scored four times in the
second half on their way to a 5-0 win over the Lake Erie women's
soccer team Sunday (Nov. 1) afternoon at Slattery Field.
The Storm (6-12-2) finished the regular season by celebrating
the careers of three senior players: sweeper Natalia
Bartula (Oakville, Ont./Holy Trinity Catholic),
defender/midfielder Emma Hoskins
(Fairfield, Ohio/McAuley) and midfielder Lacey
Eisenberg (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland).
As a team, the Storm struggled in defending a constant attack by
the Dragons (10-5-2), who finished tied for third place in the
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The two schools
will become conference foes beginning next season.
Earlier this season, Lake Erie eclipsed last season's win total
(two) and finished the year by matching the win total from 2007.
The Storm fell behind early on Sunday when Stephanie Bowman
found the back of the net for the Dragons in the 21st
minute.
Tiffin piled on four more goals in the second half, including
two from Lauren Merriman, to round out the game.
The Storm's lone shot in the game came in the first half off the
foot of Valerie
Urbanik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville). Urbanik led
this season's team with three assists, while Kaitlyn
Holland (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) led the Storm
with eight goals.
Freshman Jaimie
Nelson (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas) and sophomore Chelsea
Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) split the goalkeeping
duties on Sunday, stopping seven and six shots, respectively.
