Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Amanda Hanlon's goal midway through the
second overtime lifted Malone University to a 2-1 (2OT)
victory over the Lake Erie College women's soccer team this
afternoon (Oct. 20) in Canton, Ohio.
The loss was the third straight for the Storm, dropping their
record to 6-8-2. Malone evened its record at 6-6 with the
win.
Lake Erie struck first, getting a goal from senior midfielder Lacey
Eisenberg (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) at the 11-minute
mark. It was her second goal of the season. The Storm took
that 1-0 lead into halftime.
Malone evened the score on a free kick by Alyssa Foldesy in the
47th minute. From that point on, freshman Jaimie Nelson (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas) and Malone's Sam Brown turned
shots away until Hanlon deflected her shot off a Lake Erie defender
and into the net for the winner.
Nelson allowed two goals and made nine saves in just over 59
minutes of action. Sophomore Chelsea
Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) saved all four shots
she faced in a scoreless first half in goal.
Brown made three saves for the Pioneers, who outshot the Storm
27-9 in the match.
Lake Erie will look to stop its current slide on Thursday
afternoon, Oct. 22, at home against Seton Hill.
