Box Score PHILIPPI, W.V. - The Lake Erie women's soccer team surrendered
three goals in the final 10 minutes on Sunday, losing 4-1 at
Alderson-Broaddus College on Sunday (Oct. 18) afternoon.
The game was the first in a three-game, five-day stretch for the
Storm.
The Battlers' Kasie Shoemaker began her hat trick in the
33rd minute as she pounded a Megan Johnson free kick
past Lake Erie keeper Chelsea Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North
Valley) to give Alderson-Broaddus a 1-0 lead.
Freshman Valerie Urbanik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North
Ridgeville) tied the game four minutes later on a converted penalty
kick. It was Urbanik's fifth goal of the season.
The game remained tied into halftime and throughout much of the
second half. Shoemaker, though, scored in the 81st and
85th minutes to put the game out of reach for the Storm,
which was out-shot, 19-5, in the match.
Alderson-Broaddus's Brooke Logston scored with three seconds
left for the final margin. Giesen stopped six shots in net
for the Storm.
Lake Erie takes the pitch on Tuesday (Oct. 20) at Malone at 3
p.m. before hosting Seton Hill on Thursday (Oct. 22) at 4 p.m.
