Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio (November 25, 2008) - Playing on the road and
competing in front of a sellout crowd are two odds that are tough
to beat. Add to that equation the number one ranked team in NCAA
Division II and those odds become nearly impossible to beat, but
Lake Erie College gave a staunch effort Tuesday night, losing to
the University of Findlay, 84-55.
The Oilers took the lead in the opening 20 seconds off a layup
and never looked back, leading by as many as 22, which was the
length of difference in the score at the conclusion of the first
half, 52-30. Lake Erie totaled just six points in the paint as it
was forced to look to the outside for production. The Storm went
9-for-21 from the field for the half with four 3-pointers and went
8-for-12 from the line.
In the second half, the Storm was held to only seven field
goals, while it kept the national leaders to just 10. Two
players scored in double figures for Lake Erie, including senior
forward Rick Leasure (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) with 13 points and
junior center Veljko Lalovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Lake Region)
with season-highs of 12 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard
Scott Aston (Painesville, Ohio/Harvey) totaled four assists.
Lake Erie (1-4) is on the road this weekend as it plays in the
Gannon Gary Miller Classic where it takes on the host on Friday at
8 p.m.
