Mitchell Farnsworth is entering his first year as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Operations at Lake Erie and his third overall in 2024–25. He previously served as a graduate assistant for Athletic Facilities and Game Operations from 2021-2023.
Farnsworth returns to Lake Erie after spending the last two years at Gannon University, where he served as the Athletic Events and Facilities Coordinator in 2023–24 before being promoted to the Athletic Events and Facilities Manager in 2024–25. During his time at Gannon, he played an integral role in the planning and execution of Seven NCAA Tournament Regionals, including the historic 2023–24 split NCAA Regional for Men's and Women's Basketball, just the third of its kind in NCAA history. He also served as the Host Tournament Director for the 2024 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer Regional and In addition to his work with collegiate athletics, Farnsworth organized and scheduled events for the Erie Police League’s PALS Camp, which was recognized as a finalist for the 2025 NCAA Division II Award of Excellence.
Prior to his time at Gannon, Farnsworth was a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Facilities and Game Operations at Lake Erie from 2021–2023. In that role, he was responsibile for the training of student workers for sporting events and the scheduling of practices for sports teams. He also scheduled Public Address announcers and play-by play announcers.
Farnsworth began his career as a student worker in the University of Akron’s Athletic Facilities and Game Operations department, where he was responsible for maintaining the on-campus fieldhouse and assisting with game-day operations. He also spent a year in the Zips’ sports information department, contributing to stat reporting and postgame media coverage.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Studies from Akron in 2020 and earned his Master of Business Administration from Lake Erie in 2023.
