Drew McGaughy

Drew McGaughy is entering his first season as the defensive coordinator of the Storm football program in 2026.

Coach Andrew McGaughy comes to Lake Erie after previously serving on staff at Siena Heights University, returning to his alma mater after a standout playing career as a linebacker and two-time All-Conference performer (2021, 2022). During his time with the Saints, McGaughy was part of five nationally ranked defenses and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Performance.

Following graduation, he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Siena Heights before moving to Northwood University in 2023. At Northwood, McGaughy served as the Outside Linebackers Coach and Head Strength Coach for men’s basketball, men’s soccer, and men’s lacrosse. He was part of a staff that helped the Timberwolves match their previous three years of wins in a single season.

In the winter of 2023, McGaughy joined Adrian College as Linebackers Coach and Academic Liaison, where he helped raise the team GPA by 0.4. He later returned to Siena Heights, mentoring two All-Conference linebackers in Tanner Rubinstein (Defensive MVP, now at Toledo) and Clarke Hamilton (Battered Hat Award winner).

As Special Teams Coordinator, McGaughy guided the Saints to their first punt return touchdown in over five years and multiple blocked punts in 2024, helping spark a new era of impact play in the third phase of the game. The Saints also averaged 12 yards per punt return during that time.

McGaughy is the husband of Sierra McGaughy and father of Haven McGaughy.
