Softball Falls to Hillsdale at Home

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie softball team hosted the Hillsdale College Chargers today for another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm would be shutout in both games and drop their third straight G-MAC series.

GAME 1

HILLSDALE - 8
LAKE ERIE - 0

6 innings

The Storm faced off against All-American Joni Russell in the first game, and did not have much of an answer for her. The Chargers put together a three-run first inning to take an early lead and added on two more in the third and two more in the fifth.

The Storm, who managed to hold off a Chargers five-inning mercy rule surrendered one more run in the top of the 6th and would go scoreless in the bottom half of the inning, falling by a final score of 8-0.

WP: J. Russell (11-2)
LP: Addison Nugent (0-12)

GAME 2

HILLSDALE - 18
LAKE ERIE - 0

5 innings

It was a tough outing for Lake Erie in the final game of the series. The first three innings only saw a 3-0 Charger lead but in the fourth, Hillsdale put together an 11-run rally and then added four more in the top of the fifth.

The Storm offense was unable to get going quick enough and the result ended in a 18-0 loss at home.

Out of the team's four hits, Emma Spahr accounted for two and CJ Garcia and Maddie Pawlak had the others. The Storm did manage four walks in the game and only struck out two times.

WP: A. Foster (3-2)
LP: Kai Mortensen (1-12)

Looking Ahead

Lake Erie will resume play on Friday, April 11th on the road against the university of Findlay Oilers before returning home against the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets.
