OWENSBORO, Kentucky -- The #13 Lake Erie wrestling team traveled today to compete in a tri-match against the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers and the #16 Ashland Eagles. The Storm defeated the Panthers but fell to the Eagles, resulting in a 1-1 split on the day to begin G-MAC dual competition. The split now brings their record to 2-5 on the year.

KENTUCKY WESLEYAN - 3
The Storm took care of business against the Panthers. They came out of the gate with a pin by
Jordan Rodriguez at 125, a forfeit win at 133, and a 6-4 decision win at 141 by
Anthony Sagaris. After the Panthers forfeited at 149,
Austin Fietz made his season debut at 157, winning by 3-2 decision.
Thomas Potter grabbed a major decision victory at 165 before Kentucky Wesleyan forfeited another match. From there,
Jordan Barnett earned a 5-2 decision win at 184 and
Quinn Gorman defeated his opponent by pin at 197 before the Storm wrapped up the dual with a loss at 285 but took home a commaning 43-3 team victory.

#16 ASHLAND - 41
It was an uneventful dual against the Ashland Eagles. After dropping their first match at 125, Sagaris once again won his match, this time at 133, by 3-2 decision. After that, Lake Erie was unable to get any momentum going and they dropped their next eight matchups to fall, 41-3.

The Storm will now prepare for the G-MAC Championships on Saturday, January 25th in Findlay, OH.
