Lake Erie Athletics to Add STUNT as Varsity Sport

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Lake Erie College Athletics is excited to announce the addition of STUNT as its 18th varsity sport. The Storm will have their inaugural season in Spring 2026.

STUNT is a new emerging female sport that incorporates skills derived from cheerleading. The sport is an exciting head-to-head game between two teams who execute skills-based routines in various categories – partner stunts, jumps & tumbling, pyramids & tosses, and team routines.

"We're excited to announce the addition of STUNT to our athletics department," said Molly Hoffman, Executive Director of Athletics at Lake Erie College. "With the Great Midwest Athletic conference hosting a conference championship and the rise and impact of woman sports across the country we felt this was the right time to add it our institution. We look forward to bringing this up-and-coming sport to campus and can't wait for our first student-athletes to join this program."

"Athletics provides a fundamental cultural and student experience on our campus," said Lake Erie College President Jennifer Schuller. "We're thrilled to add another Division II athletic opportunity in the addition of STUNT along with the addition of new curricular offerings and co-curricular offerings that further enhance our student-athlete experience."

Lake Erie will compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) as the seventh full-time member institution to offer STUNT and the 10th overall.

"The Great Midwest would first like to congratulate President Jennifer Schuller and Executive Director of Athletics Molly Hoffman on the addition of STUNT the Sport to Lake Erie's campus," said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. "STUNT became the conference's 26th championship sport in the 2022-2023 season and we are excited to welcome the Storm on board in 2025-2026," added Daeger. "The future for STUNT is bright and the G-MAC is happy to be a part of it!"
