PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The #8 Lake Erie wrestling team faced off against the #19 Tiffin Dragons for their first Great Midwest dual meet of the season, It was another close, hard-fought battle but the Storm would fall 21-16 at home. The loss takes their dual record to 6-7 on the year and 0-1 in G-MAC play.
Anthony Sagaris got the start once again at 125 to kick off the dual. He went down early in the match but fought his way back. He would eventually fall 13-7 by decision. Brendan Hamilton suffered a technical fall defeat in the next matchup but
Corey Gamet followed with a pin against Christopher Oleksiak at 1:24.
Austin Fietz, lost a narrow victory by decision to Gavin Owens at 157 and
Jack Haskin took care of business at 165 with an 11-4 decision victory.
Thomas Potter fell to David Davis at 184 by decision 7-2 and
Paul Scaramuzzino followed with a very close decision loss at 3-2. This would put the Storm down 17-13 with two matches remaining.
Brylan Clouse got Lake Erie three points closer with a 4-1 decision victory at 197 but
Dylan Norris would end up losing by major decision 10-0 to make the final score 21-16 Tiffin.
The Storm will be back in action for one last regular season matchup when the University of Findlay Oilers come to town for a senior night dual. They will then head to West Liberty, West Virginia for NCAA Regionals on March 2nd.
