PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The #8 Lake Erie wrestling team competed in their final dual meet of the season this weekend against the University of Findlay Oilers on senior night. The Storm competed hard and aggressive, taking five out of the eight matches competed in and handing the Oilers a 36-14 loss.
Lake Erie got out to an early 6-0 lead as Findlay forfeited at 125. Brendan Hamilton suffered a technical fall loss to Gavin Ritter at 133 but
Corey Gamet followed things up with pin victory at 3:38 against Alex Epstein.
Christian Small competed at 149 and had the match of the night, pinning his opponent Cade Cass in just 38 seconds.
Austin Fietz took down Conner Kleinberg by major decision, 12-4, at 157 and
Thomas Potter fell in a very tight 2-1 contest at 165.Â
The Oilers forfeited at 174 giving the Storm six more team points and extended the lead to 28-8, securing the dual win.
Paul Scaramuzzino won the next matchup at 184 over Vaughn Petty by decision 10-5.
Brylan Clouse made easy work of Steele Boysel at 197, winning by technical fall 15-0 just as time was winding down in the first period.
Dylan Norris faced off against Giulian Bodiu at 285 to conclude the night. He fought extremely hard in the first and second periods but ultimately fell by pin just 28 seconds into the third.
This match concludes the regular season for the Storm. They will be back in action March 2nd to compete in the NCAA Regionals in West Liberty, West Virginia.
