INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- The Lake Erie wrestling team competed in the 45th annual Midwest Classic this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was an impressive team showing for the Storm who finished 13th overall and second among G-MAC competitors.

Jack Haskin (3rd) led the way for the Storm on the weekend by placing in the event. At 141, Small began with back-to-back pin victories; the first at 1:57 and the second at 5:31. He won his next match by major decision and the following two by decision; one of which came against #2 Dylan Lucas (Central Oklahoma). In the championship round, he fell just short with a 3-2 decision loss against #4 Cayden Henschel (Wisconsin-Parkside).
At 165, Haskin won his first three matches by technical fall (19-1), decision (7-0), and major decision (9-1). During the quarterfinals, he suffered a surprising pin loss to Tiffin's Nolan Gessler at 4:14. Haskin bounced back, won his next four matches and capped off his day with a major decision victory over Ashland's Nate Barrett.
Vincent Scaramuzzino had an impressive day for the Storm as well. At 174 he finished with a 4-2 record and earning three of those wins via pin.
Braden Hahlen would also post a winning record on the weekend, going 3-2 with one win coming by pin.
As a team, Lake Erie finished with an overall record of 25-16 with 67.5 team points.
Looking Ahead
The Storm have now wrapped up their final contest of the 2024 calender year. They will be back in action on January 4th in Johnstown, PA for the Pitt-Johnstown Duals where they will face #20 Pitt-Johnstown, #12 Grand Valley State and #19 UNC Pembroke.
