(TIFFIN, Ohio) – The opening day of the G-MAC Championships was a good one for Lake Erie as it went unscathed. After taking a no contest against Ohio Valley, the Storm raged on to a 42-11 win against Kentucky Wesleyan.

The result puts the Storm's dual record at 5-3 on the year while the Panthers dropped to 0-6.

Kentucky Wesleyan struck first as LaMont Wilson defeated Jason Brewster on a tech fall 18-2 for the first five points, but Lake Erie dominated the rest of the way. Forrest Glogouski wasted little time in putting the Green and White back on top with a pin fall in 1:08 over Andrew Parker. Andrew Lieb followed suit with a pin fall over James Loi in 1:58.

Jaycob Sharp was involved in more of a closer contest at 149, but shut out Caleb Craig 6-0 in the decision for three more points. The closest contest of the day came at 174 as Jesse Younce won a 6-4 decision over Angelo Talabert.

The final bout of the day went to Brandon Houle who scored six more points in a quick 48-second pin fall over Kairus Washington in the heavyweight division.

Nick Boggs (157), Jesse Palser (184), and Chris Droege (197) all received forfeit wins.

Tomorrow will start early for the Storm as they battle Findlay at 10 a.m. A match with tournament host Tiffin follows at noon before they close out the championships with Alderson Broaddus at 2.
