NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College men's tennis team fell in a nonconference match at Baldwin Wallace University Saturday night (Feb. 23), losing to the undefeated Yellow Jackets 7-2 at the North Ridge Racquet Club.
Individually, the Storm picked up a win at first singles as freshman Liam Goldberg (Melbourne, Australia/Haileybury College) defeated Joe Horvath 6-4, 6-1 to remain unbeaten on the season. Goldberg improved to 5-0 in the top spot. He has yet to drop a set this spring.
The Storm (0-5) nearly got another win at second singles as redshirt freshman Juan Roggia (San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina / Sa Grado Corazon) went to three sets before falling to Kyle Patterson 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).
The pair combined to pick up an 8-5 win at first doubles over Peter Harris and Doug Gamin. The Yellow Jackets (6-0) won the other four singles matches in straight sets and the remaining doubles matches 8-3, 8-0.
Lake Erie is idle until hosting Edinboro University in a nonconference match March 10.
