Lake Erie Falls In Pair Of GLIAC Matches

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College men's tennis team fell in a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matches this weekend.  The Storm dropped home tilts with Lake Superior State University Friday and Michigan Tech University Saturday, each by counts of 9-0. 

The losses drops the Storms record to 0-12 overall and 0-9 in the GLIAC. Lake Superior State picked up its first conference victory going to 4-11 overall and 1-6 GLIAC while Michigan Tech improves to 6-11 overall and 2-6 GLIAC. 

The best individual effort for the Storm came from junior No. 4 player Jacob Marsinick (Vermilion, Ohio/St. Mary Central Catholic). Against the Lakers, Marsinick picked up the Storm's lone set win, falling in a heartbreaker, 6-1, 6-7, (10-7).  Against the Huskies, Marsinick pushed his opponent before falling 6-3, 7-5.  He also teamed with junior Cory Meek (Madison, Ohio/Madison/Notre Dame College) as Lake Erie best doubles team at No. 2, taking a combined five games in the two matches. 

Lake Erie's season closes Sunday as it hosts Edinboro University at the Mentor Heisley Racquet Club at 3:00 p.m.
