Kelly and Rose-Gray Capture Singles Wins, but Storm Falls to Edinboro 6-3

ERIE, PA. -- Sophomore Brittany Kelly (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) and junior Emily Rose-Gray (Marine City, Mich./Marine City) eached earned singles victories in their 2012 debuts but it wasn't enough to lift the Lake Erie College women's tennis team past host Edinboro University on Sunday (Feb. 26) at Westwood Racquet Club.  The Fighting Scots prevailed 6-3.

The first doubles team of sophomore Jordyn Parrigan (Shelby, Ohio/Shelby) and freshman Erike Ginn (Ashtabula, Ohio/Lakeside) also won, defeating Oranza Carrillo and Kirsten Garczynski 8-4.  Kelly and Rose-Gray battled RyAnne' Baldwin and Emily Meier before falling 8-5 at second doubles.

Individually, Kelly won her third match overall with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Meier at third singles.  Rose-Gray, who missed the second half of the fall season with a back injury, made a triumph return to the court with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Garczynski at fourth singles.

The Fighting Scots won matches at first and second singles and were credited with forfeit wins at fifth and sixth singles to improve to 4-4 on the year.  Lake Erie fell to 0-14.

The Storm is idle until March 25 when it hosts Walsh University.
