Despite Strong Singles Play, Storm Falls to Edinboro in Finale

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Despite picking up three victories in singles play, the Lake Erie College women's tennis team fell to visiting Edinboro University Sunday (April 17), 6-3, in its season finale at the Mentor Heisley Racquet Club.

Freshman Jordyn Parrigan (Shelby, Ohio/Shelby) picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at first singles over Hannah Boyer and sophomore Emily Rose-Gray (Marine City, Mich./Marine City) held off Kaitlin Voss 6-1, 7-5.

After a loss at third singles, freshman Catherine Hohmann (North Olmsted, North Olmsted) responded with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number four over Laura Winters.

But the Storm (0-15) forfeited the final two singles matches and the visiting Fighting Scots (2-12) won all three doubles matches, including a 9-8 thriller at first singles with Boyer and Voss prevailing over Parrigan and Rose-Gray.

The victory by Edinboro snapped its 12-match losing streak and was its second win of the season over Lake Erie.
