Chiquita graduated from Lake Erie College in 1951, with a major in government and a minor in physical education, She was a member of the hockey, basketball, and lacrosse teams in high school, and she carried her athletic experience to Lake Erie, where she was a member of the hockey team under coach Jane White Lincoln. Quita also played every weekend with the Cleveland hockey #1 team, which would participate in the Great Lakes tournament and all major hockey tournaments.
In addition, Quita played lacrosse at the college even though the sport was only limited to Lake Erie College due to the fact there were no other schools to compete with. She also played tennis and was a member of the modern dance group. She was manager of the swim team and traveled with the squad in the winter.
The Lake Erie College Hall of Fame committee recognized all of the efforts and contributions of Chiquita Kenworthy Slocum with her induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
