Connie graduated from Lake Erie College in 1951 with a major in art and minor in physical education. While at Lake Erie, she was active on four different athletic squads, including field hockey, basketball and volleyball for four years, and the swimming team for two seasons. She received an honorable mention for the National Women’s Field Hockey team in 1950 and competed in national tournaments, and she was also a member of the Great Lakes Dance Team for four years.
Though Connie was thoroughly involved with athletics during her four years at the college, she also found time to participate in a number of co-curricular activities. These included synchronized swimming, baseball, track, tennis glee club, choir, art club, yearbook, Community Chest, Cleveland Hockey Club, and Great Lakes hockey team. She was also president of the junior class, taught lacrosse, and was a member of the YWCA Home Economics Club.
The Hall of Fame Committee recognized all of these accomplishments by honoring Constance Bommer as an inductee in the Lake Erie College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
