EVANSVILLE, Indiana- The Lake Erie College cross country teams ended the 2016 season at the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championships, held at Southern Indiana University. Lake Erie set multiple school records with their performances.
The men's team finished 15th of 31 teams in the 10k, a program-best finish at regionals.
DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio / Columbus Grove) led the Storm with a 42th place finish, coming in at 31:50. Graham's time set a new school record for a 10K. Jordan Pritchard (Painesville, Ohio / Lake Catholic) crossed the finish line at 32:04, finishing in 57th place overall. Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio / Stow) was third for the Storm with a time of 32:55 and 95th place. Logan Ebersole (Chesterville, Ohio / Highland) was 125th overall with a final time of 33:33. About a minute later, George Lesnak (Mantua, Ohio / Crestwood) came across the line in 159th place at a time of 34:23. Austin Jones (Botkins, Ohio / Botkins) and Brandon Bryan (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) rounded out the Storm's runners as they crossed the line at 36:16 and 36:18, respectively.
The women's team finished 31st as a team in the 6k.
Hailey Vanhoy (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) set a new women's school record in the 6k as she finished 156th overall with a time of 24:19. Gina Henley (Akron, Ohio / Akron) was right behind her as she crossed the line at 24:21in 158th place overall. Catherine Beisel (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) became the sixth Lake Erie runner in program history to break 25 minutes as she finished with a 24:58 time in 178th place. Sage Beauregard (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston/ Albion) was in 188th place with a time of 25:26. Emily Kotfis (East Liverpool, Ohio / East Liverpool) rounded out the Storm's top five in 219th place with a time of 31:00.
