The Lake Erie Storm volleyball's win-streak over Notre Dame College ended with the 3-1 loss to the Falcons tonight. Notre Dame improves to 15-7 on the year, while Lake Erie falls to 7-13.
Final set scores were 25-27 (NDC), 26-24 (LEC), 16-25 (NDC), and the Falcons secured the match with a final set victory with a final score of 22-25.
The first match of the night was Lake Erie's best, as the team had a set hitting percentage of .208, with 15 kills. The second set of the night was shaky, hitting .077 percent with 11 kills and eight errors. The Storm was able to rebound and hit above .120 percent in the last two sets of the match, but it was not enough to get the job done against a solid-hitting Falcons squad.
Courtney Rosebrook led the Storm offensively tonight, continuing her success late in the game against Trevecca. The junior hitter recorded 11 kills on 25 total attempts with just three hitting errors, for a hitting percentage of .320. She also was involved in four block assists. Maria Blatnik also was big on the court for the Storm against Notre Dame, recording nine kills and was involved in five block assists. Paige Allen was involved in three block assists and recorded six kills.
Taylor Metzler recorded her fifth double-double of the season, recording 10 kills and led the team defensively with 16 digs. Senior Tashelle Piegan added 14 digs, and freshman Kaylee Hiser added 11 to the defensive effort.
The Storm heads to the 2019 Crossover tournament in Indianapolis, in which they are slated for three matchups against teams from the GLIAC and GLVC. Be on the lookout for a preview for everything Crossover related tomorrow.
