The Lake Erie College Storm volleyball team won a Great Midwest matchup against the Ohio Dominican Panthers with a final score of 3-1. The win brings the Storm their fifth win of the season (5-11), and their first win in conference season. The loss leaves the Panthers volleyball squad winless so far through their 2019 season.
Set scores for this evening's match were 27-25, 25-16, 19-25, and 26-24. Of the five victories Storm volleyball has earned so far, four of them came when they win the first two sets.
Sophomore Maria Blatnik led the Storm in kills against Ohio Dominican, earning 10 on 27 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .222. Freshman Taylor Metzler added eight kills, and sophomore Paige Allen and junior Carolin Santa both added seven kills. The most consistent hitter on the floor tonight was freshman Dora Olah, earning six kills on 17 total attempts with one error, and led the team with a .357 hitting percentage.
Freshman Kaylee Hiser had a good match defensively, recording 26 digs and four receptions. Metzler added 12 digs.
The Storm will be back in action on the road against Central State for the second time this season on October 9 at 7pm. When they faced the Marauders on September 23, the Storm swept them in three sets.
