The Lake Erie College Storm dropped their season opener in the first match of the Clarion University Tony Banner Memorial Tournament this evening with a final score of 3-0.
The Golden Eagles took early leads in the first two sets, with final scores of 17-25 and 15-25 respectively. The Storm battled in the third set of the night, hanging with the Golden Eagles point for point until the 16th point of the match when Clarion went on a six-point run to pull ahead 21-16 and ultimately secured a win.
Moe Briggs held down the defense, digging out 21 balls, and also had three assists offensively.
The Storm is set for two matches in the tournament tomorrow. They will take on Saginaw Valley at 11 a.m., followed by Pitt-Johnstown at 3 p.m.
