(HILLSDALE, Mich.) – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its 2018 volleyball season awards today and three Lake Erie players have earned accolades. Senior outside hitter Crystal Kedroske and junior libero Morgan Briggs were selected to the All-Conference First Team, while outside hitter Maria Blatnik was named Freshman of the Year.
Kedroske has been one of the most lethal attackers in the conference all season. She has pounded down an amazing 475 kills this season, by far the most in the G-MAC and No. 12 in the NCAA. She has also averaged 4.34 points per set, the third-best mark in the conference as well. She was previously named an All-GLIAC Honorable Mention in 2015.
Briggs also ranked high on the national level on the defensive end. Heading into tomorrow's semifinal match with Hillsdale, the defensive specialist is 14th nationally with 648 total digs. Her 5.79 digs per set also ranks high at 25th in the country. Briggs has also done well serving with 25 aces on the season.
Blatnik made her presence known up front on both offense and defense. The freshman phenom put down 231 kills for a 1.92 average per set, fourth-best on the team. She also helped stuff the opposition with 69 total blocks on the season, second-most on the team.
Together the trio helped the Storm go 23-9 and finish second in the East Division. They will take on top-seed and tournament host Hillsdale tomorrow at 5 p.m.
