DETROIT, Mich. – The Lake Erie College volleyball team was defeated today by Wayne St. in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-22). With the loss the Storm falls to 5-14 overall and 1-9 in the conference and with the win the Warriors improve to 9-13 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Lake Erie jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set and led the majority of the set, but Wayne St. rallied with five straight points and stole the first set, (25-23). The Warriors carried their first set momentum over to the second set and won set number two, (25-17). The Storm led early in the third set but was unable to hold on, and Wayne St. won the final set, (25-22).
Offensively, Lake Erie was led by Bethany Fisher (Orrville, Ohio / Dalton) who had seven kills and four blocks in the match. Also pitching in on offense was Leondra Barrett (Chattanooga, Tn. / Ooltewah) who had six kills and three blocks in the match.
Defensively, the Storm was led by Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) and Crystal Kredoske (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) who each tallied eight digs in the match.
Lake Erie will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to take on Saginaw Valley St. at 2 P.M.
