DETROIT, Mich.--The Lake Erie College women's volleyball team (1-4, 0-1 GLIAC) opened the Great Lakes Intercolliagte Athletic Conference portion of their schedule in a losing effort against Wayne State University (6-3, 1-0 GLIAC) on Friday (Sept. 14) in Detroit Michigan.

The Warriors won the match by a count of 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.

Wayne State jumped ahead early in set one, taking a 7-1 lead. The Storm fought back but were unable to overcome the fast Warrior start, to drop the first set 25-13.

The Storm opened up the second set on a 3-1 run. The Warriors won six of the following nine points to take a 7-6 lead. Wayne State increased their lead to 11-8 before Lake Erie would mount a comback and tie the game up at 11. It was not enough, as the Warriors would only surrender three more points in the set to take it 25-14.

Once again, the Storm picked up an early 3-1 advantage before the Warriors evened it up. The team exchanged points and were tied up at eight. Wayne State won the next four points to take a 12-8 lead and did not look back, taking the set 25-16.

Junior Molly Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) led the Storm with seven kills. Classmate Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) and senior Paige Baldauf (Marion, Ohio/Marion Pleasant) tallied five digs a piece.

The Storm return to the "Buckeye State" Saturday (Sept. 15) at GLIAC opponent Findlay University at the Croy Gymnasium in Findlay, Ohio at 2 p.m.
