PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College (2-20, 1-16 GLIAC) was unable to produce a win away from home as it was taken down in straight sets by Wayne State University (12-12, 8-8 GLIAC) in Detroit Mich.
The Warriors took the match by a count of 25-14, 25-9, 25-21.
Despite failing in the first two sets, Lake Erie did not give up on the match, making the third game the best of the day. They led early in the set 9-3 before Wayne State clawed back to finish off the match.
Sophomore Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) led Lake Erie in kills for the third time in three days with eight kills. That gives Hoppe 20 for the weekend.
Senior Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) directed the Storm offense with 10 assists and added seven digs while junior Rachael Ritt (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) matched her with seven digs.
The Storm is home four times in four days next week, beginning Thursday with a non-conference match against Urbana University.
