PAINESVILLE, OHIO –After two sets the match was all even at a game apiece, but Ohio Dominican University (8-3, 3-3 GLIAC) managed to take the final two sets in a four-set victory over Lake Erie College (2-6. 1-5 GLIAC).
ODU took the match by a count of 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-13.
In the loss, Lake Erie hit for a solid .161 percentage. Sophomore Molly Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) led the Storm attack with nine kills while junior Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin), sophomore Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) and freshman Samantha Knepley (Munith, Mich./Stockbridge) each had seven and impressive hitting percentages.
The middle of the match is where the Storm excelled with 10 kills and just three errors in the second set and 13 kills to just four errors in the third set.
Junior libero Paige Baldauf (Marion, Ohio/Marion Pleasant) had a nice match with 21 digs and three service aces. Senior setter Lauren Bogatay (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) had a season-high 16 sets while classmate Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) added 14.
"We were right in the match the entire time," said Head Coach Brian Coughlin. "Having so many home matches early on we are still learning how to play, and win, on the road."
The Storm continues a three-game road trip Tuesday when they travel to Tiffin University.
