(INDIANAPOLIS)– Lake Erie women's soccer has handled opening the season on the road with great success. The Storm defense has yet to allow a goal against them in its second week of competition. A huge part of the defense's success comes from the Storm goalkeeper.
Megan Biddell (Fr., Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) has been named the G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week. Biddell's efforts at goal has helped Lake Erie start the season with an impressive (2-0-1) record.
"We are so proud of Megan and I am so thankful to have such a hard-working team of goalkeepers here at Lake Erie," said Head Coach Reni Lawrence. "Since joining our team, she has made a positive impact on and off the field. This whole team has been all in these first three games of the season and it has shown in our strong team defending."
Biddell posted two shutouts in two games last week, and has posted ten saves in 200 minutes and has three shutouts this season.
Biddell made several key saves in the second half against Notre Dame (OH) to preserve a (0-0) double-overtime draw.
The Storm will host their first home match of the season as visiting Ursuline comes to town to start conference play. Kickoff for the match is set for 6 p.m on Saturday, September 21.
