Storm Begins Playoff Appearance With Quarterfinal (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team will embark on their first playoff appearance since joining Division-II athletics this weekend as the Storm will face the #22 Ohio Valley University Fighting Scots on Saturday (Oct. 28) at 12:00 PM.

Storm Report: The Storm finished the 2017 regular season with a 5-11-1 overall record and a 4-9-1 record in the G-MAC. Lake Erie fell 3-2 to Ursuline in double overtime in the regular season finale on Tuesday. The Storm clinched the eighth seed for the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament, the first playoff appearance sinc joining Division-II. Carley Kandel (Jeromesville, Ohio / Northwestern) led the Storm with eight goals scored this season.

Opposition Position: #22 Ohio Valley concluded the regular season as the regular season champion after going 14-0-2 overall and 12-0-1 in the conference. Konstantina Giannou led the Fighting Scots and the conference with 17 goals scored.

Series History: When Ohio Valley defeated the Storm 4-0 nine days ago, the Fighting Scots evened the series history to a game apiece.

Storm Forecast: The winner of the Storm-Fighting Scots game will play the winner of Ursuline and Cedarville on Thursday (Nov. 2).
