PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team will conclude the road portion of the Great Midwest schedule this weekend with two games on the road. The Storm will face the #24 Ohio Valley University Fighting Scots on Thursday (Oct. 19) afternoon and the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets on Saturday (Oct. 21).
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 5-8-1 overall and 4-6-1 in Great Midwest games after a 3-0 loss to Ohio Dominican on Senior Day. With a 4-6-1 G-MAC record and 13 points, Lake Erie holds the eighth seed for the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. Carley Kandel (Jeromesville, Ohio / Northwestern) leads the Storm with seven goals scored this year.
Opposition Position: Ohio Valley is 12-0-2 overall and 10-0-1 in the conference along with being nationally ranked in 24th. The Fighting Scots defeated the Malone Pioneers 3-2 in their last match. Konstantina Giannou has scored 14 goals for Ohio Valley. Cedarville begins the week with an overall record of 9-5-1 and a G-MAC mark on 7-3-1. The Yellow Jackets defeated Walsh 2-0 last week. Hannah Atkinson is the leading scorer with six goals.
Series History: Ohio Valley and Lake Erie have only faced off once in the series with the Storm winning the only matchup in 2009 by a 5-0 score. Lake Erie and Cedarville have never met on the pitch.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will conclude the 2017 regular season with a home match against Ursuline on October 24th.
