PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was in action today as they were victorious over the University of Findlay, 3-1.
The Storm opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Carley Kandel (Jeromesville, Ohio / Northwestern) found the back of the net off an assist from Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls). 13 minutes later, the Storm tacked on a second consecutive goal when Pryce scored off a Kandel assist, to make the score, 2-0 Lake Erie. The Oilers cut into the Storm lead late in the half with a goal, and Lake Erie entered the intermission ahead, 2-1.
The second half started as a scoreless battle for the first 25 minutes before Brett Pauff (Elida, Ohio / Elida) made a couple defenders miss as she notched the Storm's third goal of the game. Lake Erie took a commanding 3-1 lead with just over 19 minutes remaining in the game. The Storm finished the second half strong and won the game, 3-1.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic) she faced 27 shots, 12 of which were on goal, and made 10 saves in the game.
Lake Erie will be back in action Saturday (Oct. 14) when they host Ohio Dominican on senior day with the game set to start at 6 p.m.
