FINDLAY, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was in action today (Sept. 14) as they were victorious over the University of Findlay, 3-2 in a Great Midwest contest.
The Storm jumped out of the gates as they scored in the opening minute of the game as Ashley Mundey (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) notched her first goal of the season off an assist by Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio / Stow Munroe Falls). Two minutes later, the Oilers responded and tied the game at one goal apiece. The remainder of the first half was a scoreless battle.
At the half, the shot total was even at eight shots apiece, but the Storm put eight shots on frame, opposed by the four shots on goal by Findlay.
The Oilers took their first lead of the game in the 59th minute as they took a 2-1 advantage. The Storm responded 13 seconds later to tie the game at two as Carley Kandel (Jeromesville, Ohio / Northwestern) found the back of the net for the Storm. Lake Erie regained their lead at the 72 minute mark when Kristen Redwood (Euclid, Ohio / West Geauga) scored an unassisted goal to give the Storm a 3-2 edge.
In net for the Storm was Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic), she faced 15 total shots, seven of which were on goal, and made five saves.
Lake Erie will return to the field Saturday (Sept. 16) when they travel to take on Ohio Dominican with the game set to kickoff at 12 p.m.
