PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College concluded the 2016 home portion of the schedule with a 2-1 loss to the University of Findlay Oilers on Sunday (Oct. 23) afternoon.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Storm, who fell to 7-9 overall and 2-8 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie concluded the home schedule with a 4-5 record.
The Storm got on the board first as Kynslie Murphy (Parma, Ohio / Valley Forge) sprinted down the left side of the field and scored from 15 yards out. Murphy's fourth goal of the year made it 1-0 Storm in the 25th minute.
Findlay outshot the Storm 5-2 despite trailing in the first half.
One minute into the first half, Findlay tied the game as Marissa Swindell scored past the Storm's goalkeeper.
Swindell scored again in the 70th minute as she scored off of a deflection from a previous shot. Findlay ended the game with a 2-1 victory.
Lake Erie was outshot 16-8 in the game; with goalkeeper Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic) making six saves.
The Storm will complete the 2016 regular season with a road game at Walsh on Friday (Oct. 28).
