MIDLAND, Mich.- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team could not get the offense going on Sunday (Oct. 2) as the Storm was shutout by the Northwood University Timberwolves 3-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup.
Lake Erie fell to 6-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference with their second straight loss.
In the 24th minute, Northwood took the lead with a goal by Karina Parker off a cross from the right side of the field. The Timberwolves led 1-0 at the intermission. Northwood took four shots compared to Lake Erie's one in the opening half.
Just three minutes into the second half, the Timberwolves added another goal. Olivia Kaye fed a shot into the box. Marissa Brannon (Concord, Ohio / Lake Catholic) tried to stop the ball but it trickled into the net for a goal.
Sara Lamphere completed the scoring for the Timberwolves in the 59th minute as she dropped a shot into the left corner of the goal.
Northwood took seven shots in the second half and 11 total for the game. Lake Erie had four shots total, all coming from different players.
Brannon made two saves in the game, with three goals allowed.
The Storm will host Ferris State at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium on Friday (Oct. 7).
